Why Magic Touch

Three things our customers tell us they couldn’t find elsewhere

We hear the same story before customers call us. The last painter went quiet. The price kept moving. The finish didn’t last. Magic Touch is built on the three things Sydney homeowners say they actually want.

01

Clear communication

You’ll know what’s happening today, what’s happening tomorrow, and who’s at your door. One point of contact for the whole job, usually Sam himself. No phone tag, no ghosting.

02

Honest, fixed pricing

Written, fixed-price quotes after we walk the job in person. No vague hourly billing, no surprise extras at the end. If the scope changes, you sign off the change first, that’s the rule.

03

Workmanship guaranteed

Premium paints from DuluxBritish Paint and Taubmans, applied properly, prepped properly, and backed by a written workmanship guarantee.

What we paint

Homes first. Everything else built around that craft

Residential painting has been our core trade for twenty years. The same standards prep, primer, premium product, two coats run through every commercial fit-out, strata refresh and feature finish we deliver across Sydney.

How a Magic Touch job runs

The reason customers describe us as the painter who actually communicates is because every job runs the same four-step way. Quote. Plan. Paint. Hand over.

Quote on site, in person

Sam visits, measures, photographs and listens. You receive a written, fixed-price quote with paint brand, product, coats and timeline.

Plan colours & calendar

We lock the colour scheme using Dulux, British Paint or Taubmans chips, then schedule a start date that suits you, weekends included.

Paint properly prepped

Surfaces are sanded, filled, primed and sheeted before any topcoat goes on. Two coats of premium paint as standard, applied by the same team start to finish.

Hand over & warranty

Walk-through with Sam, snag list cleared on the day, place cleaned. Written workmanship guarantee in your inbox.

Meet Sam · The painter behind Magic Touch

The painting company that’s always been one phone, one painter, one promise

Sam started Magic Touch Painting & Decoration in 2005 with a simple idea: a Sydney painter who answers his own phone, quotes his own jobs, and turns up on his own jobsites. Twenty years on, the model hasn’t changed. The team has grown, the work has scaled to commercial and strata, but the call still goes to Sam.

“The job is half listening, half painting. If you don’t listen properly first, the paint never quite lands right.”

That’s why the team you meet on day one is the same team that hands the job over to you on day eight. It’s why the quote you sign is the price you pay. And it’s why we still pick up the phone on a Sunday afternoon for a homeowner who wants a Monday-morning start.

Three brands we trust on every Sydney wall

Magic Touch is an accredited applicator for Dulux, British Paint and Taubmans, the three premium paint manufacturers our work is built around. We can match to any colour fan from these systems and apply the right product for the surface, climate and finish.

Dulux

Australia’s most specified architectural paint. We apply Dulux Wash & Wear for interiors and Weathershield systems on exteriors as a default.

British Paint

Heritage British formulations adapted for Australian conditions. A go-to for character homes and depth-of-colour finishes.

Taubmans

Australian-developed coatings with strong warranty backing. We use Taubmans Endure on high-traffic interiors and All Weather for exteriors.

Most Sydney painters charge between $45 and $85 per hour, or roughly $20 to $60 per square metre when quoted by area. A standard three-bedroom interior repaint sits between $4,000 and $8,000. A full exterior on the same home is generally $8,000 to $18,000. At Magic Touch we prefer fixed-price written quotes rather than open hourly billing, so the number you sign is the number you pay.

A small one to two-bedroom interior repaint takes one to three days. A standard three to four-bedroom interior runs three to five days. A full exterior repaint of a free-standing home typically runs one to two weeks once prep, weather and drying time are factored in. We confirm a written timeline before we start so you can plan around it.

Yes. Magic Touch Painting & Decoration operates under NSW painter licence 326860C and carries full public liability insurance. You can verify any NSW painter licence through Service NSW’s licence checker before engaging any tradesperson we recommend you do.

Magic Touch is an accredited applicator for Dulux, British Paint and Taubmans, the three brands we use as standard across Sydney homes. We can also apply a brand you specify if you have a colour-match preference or want to keep an existing manufacturer warranty intact.

Yes we’re open seven days a week. Saturday and Sunday work is offered at standard rates for residential customers, which suits homeowners who want minimal disruption to the working week. We can also start a job on a public holiday if you’ve got a specific deadline.

Fixed pricing as standard. After an on-site inspection, you receive a written quote with the scope, paint brand and product, number of coats, prep work and timeline. The price doesn’t move unless the scope does and any change is agreed in writing first, never at the end.

Yes. Every Magic Touch project comes with a written workmanship guarantee. If something goes wrong with the application peeling, bubbling, finish defects within the warranty period, we come back and rectify it at no charge. The paint manufacturer warranty also applies on top of that, and we’ll register it for you where applicable.

A standard Magic Touch interior includes: furniture protection and masking, crack and hole filling, sanding, sugar-soaping where needed, one coat of primer if required, and two coats of premium topcoat. End-of-day cleanup, snag list walk-through and removal of all sheeting and tape on completion.

Almost always, yes. We work room-by-room and seal off active zones with sheeting so the rest of the home remains livable. Most homeowners barely notice us. If you have a specific room you need painted overnight or out of hours, we can usually accommodate.

For most quotes we can book a start date within one to two weeks. For urgent jobs pre-sale repaints, end-of-lease, settlement deadlines we can sometimes start within 48 hours if the diary allows. Call Sam directly on 0431 512 786 to check current availability.

Yes. We work with strata managers and owners corporations on common-area repaints, balcony refurbishments and ongoing maintenance programs. For businesses, we deliver office, retail and medical fit-out repaints, usually out of hours so trading isn’t affected. See the commercial and strata pages for the full scope.
